2012 Chevrolet Volt is Both Cheaper and Expensive
For 2012, the 2012 Chevrolet Volt gets a slightly lower price tag, but its formerly standard navigation system and Bose audio system are now on the options list. New standard features inside the 2012 Chevy Volt include updated keyless ignition/entry and the new MyLink system. The latter Volt 2011 provides Bluetooth streaming audio as well as voice control over the audio system and your cell phone. New standard equipment in the 2012 Chevrolet Volt includes standard keyless proximity locking, Onstar turn-by-turn navigation and Bluetooth integration. Starting today, Chevrolet dealers in all 50 states will begin taking orders for the 2012 Chevy Volt.

The 2012 Chevrolet Volt is a range-extended plug-in hybrid. Using a small battery pack, the Chevy Volt 2012 can operate for up to 35 miles in all-electric mode everywhere from city streets through to the freeway. But when its battery pack is depleted, the 2012 Chevy Volt 1.4 liter gasoline engine kicks in, powering a generator capable of producing up to 55 kilowatts to run its 111 kilowatt electric motor for a total range of 379 miles. As the 2012 Chevy Volt is a car which can operate from either electricity or gasoline, its battery pack is a lot smaller than all-electric cars. The Volt can also be run in ‘mountain mode’ — allowing the driver to force the Volt to use both gasoline and battery power in situations when the car will be operating under heavy load for many miles.

The Biggest Change in the 2012 Chevrolet Volt
The biggest change is that the 2012 Chevrolet Volt is both cheaper and more expensive than the Chevy Volt 2010 or even the Volt 2011. Not making sense? Remember, it’s the car of the future, so the laws of pricing that you and I are familiar with don’t apply. The price reduction comes as in-dash navigation is now offered as part of an option package rather than standard in the Volt model. For the record, GM says that the reduced price of the 2012 Chevy Volt model is due to the “wider range of options and configurations that come with the expansion of Volt production for sale nationally.” The Chevy Volt production will now be available in all 50 states, priced at $39,995, including an $850 destination charge. Some customers will qualify for a $7,500 tax credit, bringing the effective price to $32,495. So although the 2012 Chevy Volt has a lower base price and larger, more impressive options list than the year before anyone wanting a Volt with the same specifications as the previous year’s $41,000 base model will find they shelling out a shattering $43,083.
For the 2012 Chevrolet Volt model year, Volt buyers will be faced with choosing from a total of seven option packages. The 2012 Chevrolet Volt, with all available options, including a backup camera, navigation system, premium paint and wheels, will cost $46,265. A loaded Volt – packed with luxury touches like leather seats, a backup camera, navigation system, premium paint and fancy wheels. The 2012 Chevrolet Volt will be offered with two additional interior accents: white and spiced red; and two brand spanking’ new exterior hues: Summit White and Blue Topaz Metallic. Some additional features for the 2012 Chevrolet Volt include Chevrolet MyLink and 17-inch alloys with black inserts. The sales of Chevy Volt has reached 2,184 Volts through May of 2011. Customers across the nation can visit their nearest Chevy dealer to order a 2012 Chevrolet Volt, of course, ordering a Volt does not necessarily mean that you’ll take delivery of it any time soon.
