2012 Chevrolet Camaro Gets Some Improvements and Special Editions

For 2012, the 2012 Chevrolet Camaro sees a number of improvements. Later in the model year, the Chevrolet Camaro 2012 ZL1 debuts, resurrecting a legendary name and providing pavement-ripping performance by way of a supercharged V8. The new Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 is a fitting homage to the legendary ZL1 high-performance engine option for the 1969 Camaro that was favored among acceleration addicts and bench-racing braggarts. The Camaro ZL1 comes with a variant of the supercharged 6.2-liter V8 found in the Cadillac CTS-V and Corvette ZR1. Here it cranks out over 570 horsepower, making it the quickest, most capable Camaro ever. A six-speed manual transmission is standard in the Chevrolet Camaro 2012 ZL1, with a six-speed automatic being optional. The 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 also boasts other unique upgrades.

With design cues evocative of the legendary 1969 model, the Chevrolet Camaro 2011 combines the spirit of the classic American muscle car with the fuel efficiency, safety, handling, technology and build quality expected in a modern performance coupe. The 2012 Chevrolet Camaro is a four-seat coupe or convertible available in V6-powered LS1 and LS2 (coupe only), 1LT and 2LT trim levels, and V8-powered 1SS and 2SS trim levels. Standard equipment on the Camaro 2012 LS1 includes black 18-inch steel wheels, automatic headlights, cruise control etc. Its LS2 is essentially just the LS1 with an automatic (versus manual) transmission. The 1LT adds 18-inch alloy wheels, fog lamps and eight-way power seats. The Convenience and Connectivity package adds to the Chevrolet Camaro 2012 1LT remote ignition (automatic only), an iPod interface and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls. Chevrolet Camaro 2012 2LT includes those items plus 19-inch alloy wheels, heated mirrors, auto-dimming rearview and driver-side mirrors also some extra gauges.

The Chevrolet Camaro 2012 1SS is equipped similarly to the 1LT but adds a V8, 20-inch wheels, a sport-tuned suspension and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The 2012 Camaro 2SS essentially features the 1SS’s performance bits with the 2LT’s convenience and luxury features. The 2012 Chevrolet Camaro RS package (available on all trims but the LS) adds 20-inch wheels and xenon headlights. A sunroof is optional on all Chevrolet Camaro 2012 coupes but the LS. For Camaro 2012, the revised 3.6-liter V6′s horsepower is bumped from 312 to 323. The new FE4 suspension debuts as a performance improvement for the 2012 Chevrolet Camaro SS coupe, focusing on more refined handling. The tail lamps that had been a part of the RS appearance package in 2011 Chevrolet Camaro model year and a rear spoiler are now standard on all Chevrolet Camaro 2012 trims.

The 2012 Chevrolet Camaro Special Editions

The 2012 Chevrolet Camaro 45th Anniversary Package will be offered on Camaro’s top two trim levels (2LT and 2SS) for both 2012 Chevrolet Camaro convertable and coupe body styles, and includes unique hood and deck stripes, new design 20 inch wheels in dark silver, 45th Anniversary embroidery and badges, and red, white and blue stitching. On the outside, this Camaro only looks different because of the anniversary edition package: the color of the 2012 Chevrolet Camaro 45th Anniversary Package is Carbon Flash Metallic, or sparkly black, as most people will call it. Chevrolet also announced a 2012 Chevrolet Camaro Transformers Special Edition to correspond with the release of the latest Transformers film, entitled Transformers: Dark of the Moon. To order a 2012 Camaro either the 2012 Chevrolet Camaro 45th Anniversary Package or the Transformers Special Edition, one must wait until the end of 2011.
