2011 Jeep Compass Still Isn’t the Best Off-Road SUV on the Market
The 2011 Jeep Compass is the most affordable vehicle in this growing category of entry-level utility vehicles, but it’s still far better with more options rather than fewer. The Jeep Compass 2011 images has been refreshed with updated styling as well as improvements in handling dynamics and interior quality. An Off-Road package with low-range gearing, increased ride height, all-terrain tires and skid plates also gives the Compass legitimate off-road ability.

The 2010 Compass was the black sheep of the Jeep lineup. Its exterior styling didn’t look as rugged as the Jeep Patriot or Wrangler, and you couldn’t take it off-road. For the 2011 model year, Jeep made the 2011 Jeep Compass look and act more like its larger, more capable siblings. Jeep Compass 2011 gets a redesigned exterior that resembles the Jeep Grand Cherokee, while an optional drivetrain can tackle off-roading duties.

Nearly all of the improvements seen in the Jeep 2011 Compass spy shot is related to issues about which we’ve previously griped. This year’s updated sheet metal includes a Grand Cherokee-style front end and additional chrome flourishes that make for a notably more upscale appearance.

At the same time, the 2011 Jeep Compass still lacks the refinement it needs to keep pace with other vehicles in this increasingly popular category of crossover utility vehicles. Developed from the Dodge Caliber platform just like the Jeep Patriot (and the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport as well), the Jeep Compass 2011 has a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine at its command, much like all the vehicles in this category.

But 2011 Jeep Compass also has a continuously variable transmission (CVT) all its own, and this choice makes the engine seem noisy and unrefined even as it boasts both improved acceleration and better fuel economy. The exterior has been updated and new optional four-wheel drive systems match the off-road capabilities of other SUVs in the Jeep lineup. It is available in three trims: Compass, Latitude and Limited. Three drivetrain configurations are available in the 2011 Jeep Compass: front-wheel drive, Freedom Drive I and a Freedom Drive II Off-Road Package.

Freedom Drive I and II are Jeeps’ four-wheel drive systems. The main difference between the two is that Freedom Drive II is Trail Rated. The Jeep Compass 2011 starts at $19,295 but Jeep hasn’t released pricing information for all-wheel drive and optional features. The 2011 Jeep Compass release date is now.

Compared to Other Vehicles
Despite the changes, some automotive journalists say the 2011 Jeep Compass still isn’t the best off-road SUV on the market. The 2011 Compass struggles in rugged terrain, is fitted with cheap interior plastics and has a tight rear row. The 2011 Compass does, however, have two things going for it: great fuel economy for the class and a low base price of $19,295.

If you’re concerned with price, very few SUVS can beat the 2011 Compass $19,295 base price. The 2011 Jeep Patriot is one option. Starting at $15,995, the 2011 Jeep Patriot is capable off-road, but isn’t as comfortable as other compact SUVs on the market. If you need a comfy daily driver, the Jeep Patriot isn’t it. On the other hand, the Hyundai Tucson is an affordable commuter than the 2011 Jeep Compass.
